Arrival-Departure, Number-of-Rods, Licenses, and Catch & Release Policy
:

Rental is for 24 hour period, with Check-in time either 9am or 5pm.  The first customer to book for a certain day can choose.  We do not book multiple parties into the lodge.  When you book the lodge you can enjoy the lodge on your own.  You may see an Angler's Lane staff member sometime outdoors as we do keep an eye on the stream and the house.

We have 2 miles of stream at Rivenridge and private access for guided trips to much more.   Any party of four or more is guaranteed to have fishing rights to the 2 miles of Rivenridge property to themselves.

For parties of less than 4 in the lodge, we may allow day guided trips elsewhere on the property.  If so, we will first coordinate with the overnight guest party.  Our overnight guest(s) have priority to choose where to fish.

Licenses:  To fish at Rivenridge, you will need the following licenses:

    Virginia Fishing License
    National Forest Stamp

You do not need a trout stamp unless you plan to fish off Rivenridge property on the state-stocked rivers.

Call Angler's Lane shop (434-385-0200) before you depart for instructions on gate lock and house key.  As of March 2009 we now have two gates (new one 40 ft  after you ford the river); combo is same for both gates.

REMINDER: Rivenridge is fly-fishing only, catch-and-release.

Frequently asked questions:

How do I get in the gate and the lodge? - Be sure to call the Angler's Lane shop and ask for the combo to the two gates.  We have gate one just off Clubhouse Rd and a new gate 200 yds later after you ford the South Fork.  Confirm location of the lodge key with the shop manager.

What do we do about meals and linens while staying at Rivenridge - The lodge work like a house at the beach.  No need to bring your own towels and linens--we provide both.  We do not have a chef there at the lodge, but do have a kitchen, outdoor small Weber grill, plates, utensils, etc.  Bring charcoal if you can though some may be in reserve in laundry room.
If you don't want to fix meals, your closest best option is Mountain View Market (1900 Lowesville Rd  Amherst VA 24521) just 18 minutes from the lodge.  Open 7 days a week they fix a wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Call 434-277-5256 for their hours of operation.

Guided trip checklist -

____ Meeting time    ____ Wader, shoe size, Left-hand/right-hand   ___ Food allergies - be sure to discuss with shop.

Are gear  and flies included?
Your guided day will include the rod, reel, waders and wading shoes needed for that day.  If you are staying longer to fish on your own, ask the shop about equipment rental.

While the guide will have flies, lost flies are not covered.  Typically clients will buy number of flies suggested before the trip so that the guide does not need to count # flies lost; at end of trip the client can keep the remaining flies purchased.

Should I bring a lunch or drinks for guided trip?
Not necessary.  Guide will ask you about food allergies and will bring lunch and water / iced tea etc needed for the guided day.

How much should we tip the guide?
We suggest
using the same % guidelines you would use in a restaurant based on how your feel about the experience.
